NAEGE FELLOWSHIP

Thank you for your interest in applying to be elevated as a Fellow of the Nigerian Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment.

This page aims to explain the process and help you decide if you are really ready. Please study carefully.

You may wish to know that the Fellowship of NAEGE is to recognize members who have made significant contributions to the practice of Geosciences and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession worthy of emulation. Elevation to the cadre of Fellow not only recognizes the achievements of the Geoscientists as individuals but also their significant contributions to the Profession & Society.

Get Started

Let’s get started by going through the steps towards starting your application to be considered for Fellowship. But before that, let’s check the Eligibility Criteria. If you are not sure you meet any of these, you are advised to contact a Fellow to guide you.

General Eligibility Criteria

Candidates for Fellowship must be:

  1. At least 7 years as a Corporate member.
  2. At least 35 years of age.
  3. Financially up to date with evidence of regular payment of dues as at when due for at least 5 years prior to application.
  4. Must show evidence of being very active at both Local and National levels.
  5. Produce recommendations via Letters of Reference from 3 Sponsors:
    • Local Branch Chairman
    • Any 2 Fellows of at least 3 years standing
  6. Show evidence of regular attendance and participation at Branch meetings for the last 3 years.
  7. Must not have any Ethical or Disciplinary case (convicted or pending) with NMGS or NAEGE. Where a candidate has ever had any Ethical or Disciplinary case and such has been concluded, such a case or cases must be declared by the candidate stating how it was resolved. Failure to have a full disclosure on this shall lead to invalidation of the application, irrespective of what stage the processing has reached.
  8. Evidence of attendance at conferences, workshops, seminars.
  9. Show noteworthy contributions to the Association and Profession by showing evidence of the following:
    • Positions held
    • Contributions made to NAEGE
    • Professional development
    • Evidence of advancement and professional qualifications
    • Contributions towards the Profession
    • Contributions towards Knowledge dissemination
    • Contributions to NAEGE, NMGS and other related bodies
    • Your vision for the Association

Again, check the Eligibility List and be very sure you have at this time reached that level to be considered for Fellowship. If the answer is YES, then go to Step 2 on the next page. If you are not sure, then you are advised to seek counsel from a Fellow known to you. Please do not continue with the process if you are not convinced.

You will now use the link at the bottom of this page to fill the online Expression of Interest (EOI) Form from the 24th June to 5th July 2024. Note, this also requires you to pay the sum of N50,000 to be among those that will receive the Fellowship Application Package on 8th July, 2024.
